National Society of the Colonial Dames
The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America promotes appreciation for the people, places and events that led to the formation and development of our country. We are an unincorporated association of 44 Corporate Societies with more than 15,000 members. The Minnesota Historical Society is a dynamic and widely recognized educational organization that is a trusted resource for history. It is highly valued for its historical resources, educational impact, service, advocacy and leadership. Archives of the NSCDA-Minnesota are held in the Minnesota Historical Society collections and are accessible to the public at its library in St. Paul, Minnesota. University of Minnesota: Dames Scholarship Fund
In an effort to assist international students who are experiencing financial hardship due to unforeseen circumstances, ISSS offers a very limited amount of financial assistance to international students at the U of MN- Twin Cities campus. The Minnesota Colonial Dames has provided scholarships for more than 60 years. :
National History Day is an inter-disciplinary research project for students in grades 6-12. The Minnesota Colonial Dames proudly provides judges and scholarships for this annual program.
The Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis, contains 291 skilled nursing beds and 50 domiciliary beds in private and semiprivate rooms. Care for veterans has been provided for the past 125 years. As part of patriotic service, the Minnesota Colonial Dames provide supplies to help meet the changing needs of the residents daily life.
Among the buildings on this historic site is the home of Henry Hastings Sibley, successful fur trader and first governor of Minnesota. It was built in the early 1800s, when Mendota was a major center of the region's fur trade
Explore the unexpected at the Alexander Ramsey House, a Victorian-era home filled with thousands of original family items and furnishings. Funds are provided annually by the Minnesota Colonial Dames for on-going projects.
Sulgrave Manor is a Tudor and Georgian house built by direct ancestors of George Washington, the first President of the United States. Discover how Civil War, financial ruin, and a shipwreck led to the Washington's great grandfather seeking a fresh start in the New World. Minnesota Colonial Dames participate in funding this historic site.
Gunston Hall (1755-1759) is the architectural gem built for George Mason IV by William Buckland and William Bernard Sears. The mansion stands as a testament to a single architectural moment in colonial Virginia. The Minnesota Colonial Dames have an active seat on the Regents board.
In addition to being a historic house museum, Dumbarton House is also the headquarters of The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. It offers guests a unique opportunity to view one of the finest examples of Federal period architecture in the U.S., along with its impressive furniture and decorative arts collections
